Lydia’s Tater Soup – Thanks Road Rebelles

By Evada Cooper     Our oldest daughter, Lydia – age 8, happened to be listening to the Road Rebelles Radio Show one night by the campfire.  The guest was none other than Evada Cooper, the author of The RV Centennial Cookbook, which can be found on the Fulltime Families site (Resources tab under FTF Bookstore).  At the end of the show, they had a call-in giveaway for an autographed copy of the book.  Lydia jumped up and said, “Hey, maybe I could win”, so I gave her my phone and told her to give it a shot.  She was stunned when they actually began talking to her live on the air, she didn’t really know what to say.  They finally got her information, and congratulated her for winning.  When she hung up the phone, she danced all around the bus yelling “I Won, I really Won!”

Well, a few days went by and the package arrived in the mail.  She opened it up like a kid on Christmas morning, her eyes were glistening with excitement.  She began to thumb through the pages, and settled on Potato Soup found on page 53.  We happened to have all of the ingredients on hand, so her little mind went to work planning the day she would be able to prepare it for us to enjoy.

I decided to film the process with my iPhone, it took some doing in the confines of the bus kitchen.  The poor lighting and bad echo made it a little harder to get the shots, but we pulled it off as far as I can tell.  She has come to the conclusion that she may want to be the star of her own cooking show for kids, so let us know what you think of the first try.
